The C9 is the successor to the Pagani Zonda, which was a supercar in every sense of the word. It was loud, fast, and drew people's gaze as it ripped past.
The Zonda has been around since 1991. The Italian supercar has manifested its image in the minds of male children as one of the most stunning cars ever made. The styling alone makes it a fantastic piece of engineering, but when you add the sound, which is heavenly, and the speed, which is ferocious, you have yourself the ultimate playboy car.
In other words, if Darth Vader drove, he would drive a Zonda.
It should also be mentioned that the Zonda R holds the record for the fastest lap-time around the Nurburgring for a road-based car with an astonishing time of six minutes and 47 seconds (autoblog.com).
The Zonda put Pagani on the map, and now that they are here they want to stick around.

Pagani has tried to keep this new car as secretive as possible, and they have done well not to give anything away in their teaser videos. They have released three so far, none of which gives viewers a true understanding of what the car will look like when it's released.
The first video shows a man picking up a model of the car, which I mistook for a key fob the first time I saw it.
The second video released, is basically a collage of a bunch of blurry close-ups of the interior of the C9.

This last one shows a few quick flashes of certain aspects of the C9. Things like the headlights and door handles.
Pagani is certainly keeping their cards close to their chest, but even so there are some videos on the internet showing test footage, which are easy enough to find if you are familiar with Google.
It is believed by many car-news outlets that Pagani will officially unveil the C9 at the Geneva Auto Show in March.

Despite the secrecy, Horacio Pagani (Boss of Pagani) revealed some specs for the C9. TopGear's Sam Philip reported Pagani as saying the C9 will have a 6.0L AMG V12 which will produce 690 bhp. He also said the car will have 737lb ft of torque.
And it's not going to be cheap either. Philip wrote that it will be £800,000. For those of us living in North America that makes this a million-dollar car; $1.07 million Canadian, and $1.08 million American to be exact.
Phillip's article also tells us only 40 will be made per year, making it a rare vehicle, and it is scheduled to be released for sale at the end of 2011 or early 2012.
The other two videos of the C9 can be viewed at deusventi.com.
***UPDATE*** Pagani has released some images of the C9 or Huayra as it's being called. Images at up here on topgear.com.
